The book is a comprehensive anthology of Christmas lyrics and stories popular at the time, complimented by wonderful illustrations. It is the first time that both "A Visit from St. Nicholas" and "A Christmas Carol" appear together in one book. "A Visit From St. Nicholas" is accompanied by an illustration of St. Nick, by Thomas Nast, one of his earliest; while "A Christmas Carol" has two illustrations by John Leech. It is a big, lovely book, measuring approximately 9 x 11.5 inches with 385 pages. Hard cover construction is red cloth over boards with gilt cover designs and page edging. This 149 year old book is in unusually nice condition. Covers show light wear, mostly at the spine tips. The pages are clean with light foxing in the very beginning. Binding is tight. "A Visit from St. Nicholas" appears on pages 25-28 and "A Christmas Carol" appears on pages on pages 177-308. On consignment from a lifelong Christmas collector. Thanks for looking!
