Description: BEAUTIFUL 3/4 PUBLISHER LEATHER EARLY PRINTING OF LITTLE DORRIT by Charles Dickens. First published in book form in 1857, this version by Chapman and Hall does not have a publication date - others with this same 2-column version have suggested "1860s" or "1870ca". I'll go with 1870ca. ONE OF THE FOUR FULL PAGE B&W PLATES IS NOT PRESENT. The frontispiece and the plates located opposite pages 179 and 334 are present and are shown in listing photos. The plate opposite page 12 is not present in the book. The condition of this book is VERY NICE save for this missing plate; imagine my disappointment when I was preparing the book for listing and was checking for the presence of the plates! Leather boards have moderate to heavy corner and top/bottom spine wear, light to moderate edge wear, slight bumping of corners. Clear gilt tiling on a red title block on the spine, and clear gilt decoration. Marble boards, marble endpapers, and marble page edges. There are two blank endpapers after the marble endpaper, front and back. Very solidly bound, no interior previous owner markings. 58 illustrations by J. Mahoney originally, one missing now as noted, including the 3 plates and the rest within-text illustrations. 423 clean and solidly bound pages, a stray foxing mark or two, a tiny bit of bottom edge tearing on a few pages near the back of the book due to a stickiness on bottom page edges. I separated all the pages and few tiny tears resulted. B120
