Description: Handwritten Indenture on 3 leaves of vellum measuring 27 inches by 22 inches. Dated 16 October 1867. Contents relate to the winding up of a Bank. The agreement is between: The English Joint Stock Bank Limited. Charles Fitch Kemp of No 7 Walbrook in the City of London and Henry Chatteris of No 21 Laurence Lane in the City, Accountants. William Tebb of No 20 Rochester Road Camden Town in the County of Middlesex, Gentleman. In May 1866 a petition was presented to the High Court of Chancery for the purpose of winding up the English Joint Stock Bank Limited and on the 14 May 1866 an order was made by the Court appointing Charles Fitch Kemp as official Liquidator of the Company. It was agreed that property of the company should be sold at auction. This document relates to the Lease of a piece of building land at Erith in the County of Kent together with the two Messuages known as numbers 8 and 9 Albert Road Erith. The document refers to a plan drawn in the margin but the box for which the plan would have been intended is blank and was never used. CONDITION. Contents complete. Two tiny pin holes (contents not affected). Otherwise no holes or tears. Some darkening to vellum but good condition overall for a multi page document of this age. Ink clear and free of fading.
