Description: Used hardcover 1863 expanded new edition of Charles Pickering's "The Races of Man, and their geographical distribution", To which is prefixed, an analytical synopsis of the natural history of man. It is in fair condition. Partial cracking of the front and back hinge, and partial separation of the front cover and detachment of the first leading page and loosening of the next two leading prior to the title page (see detailed photos). Chips to the upper 5 mm of the spine cover are noted with mild rubbing, some small stains and rounding of the corners. The binding is sturdy. Minimal pencil marks are shown on the title page. No writing to the text, nor creases, highlighting, or underlining. Occasional marks bot preventing reading are shown in the photo. Mild Smudges of the facing pages from darker plates are noted (see photo for example). Age appropriate toning of the pages.
