Description: Original hand signed currency issued by the State of North Carolina in 1863. The “Two Dollar” note is also hand inscribed with the serial number “2941”. The note was issued out of Raleigh, North Carolina and was printed by “J.T. Paterson & Co. Augusta, Ga.”. The vignette in the center is “Liberty and Peace”. As with a lot of the notes of the period it has the plain back. Original lead bullets excavated from the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Battlefields near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The 1864 battles were the beginning of General Grant’s “Overland Campaign” to take Richmond. There are two three ring Federal rounds for the Springfield rifle or contract arms of that caliber and a fired .57 Confederate Enfield at center. They are mounted in an 8” x 12” Riker style case with glass front. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated.
