Description: The original hand signed 1863 “Two Dollars” North Carolina note was issued from Raleigh, N.C.. The serial number “133” was hand inscribed. It has a plain back as is common for the period. The note was printed by “J.T. Paterson & Co. Augusta, Ga.”; the center vignette is the State Capitol building in Raleigh. Original lead bullets excavated from the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Battlefields near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The 1864 battles were the beginning of General Grant’s “Overland Campaign” to take Richmond. From left they are a fired .58 Confederate Gardner made at the Richmond Arsenal, a dropped .58 Federal round for the Springfield Rifle and a fired .58 rifle that could have been used by either side. They are mounted in an 8” x 12” Riker style case with glass front. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated.
