Description: Condition as seen. Shrink wrapped on styrafoam. "Thomas M Vincent of the War Dept stated it was he who smoothed the Eyelids and placed the Coins on President Lincoln as he was announced as having died. It was Vincent who had at 1:30 am written down at Stanton's dictation an announcement of the President's death to be sent when the words became fact, a dictation which Mrs Lincoln in the front room overheard and which caused her acute premature agony, caused her to cry "Is he Dead, Oh is he Dead?
