Description: 1862 International Exhibition -- Silver Plated Souvenir Medallion -- C19th Diameter -- 1.6 inches approx. Obverse -- Bust of Prince Albert. TO THE COMMEMORATION OF HIS LATE R.H THE PRINCE CONSORT ALBERT Reverse -- A view of the exterior of the building. Condition -- The silver plating is very worn with base metal showing through. Lots of scratches and small digs. Background -- The 1862 International Exhibition aimed to continue where the Great Exhibition of 1851 had left off. Prince Albert was again heavily involved but died before the start of the Exhibition. This is a Silver Plated Souvenir Medallion actually stamped in part of the Exhibition by H. Uhlhorn of Grevenbroich, Prussia.
