Lovett. This medal is from the series developed by Lovett to commemorate the various places where George Washington established Headquarters during the war of independence. This medal is number 8 and is for Sufferns in New York State across from the line from New Jersey. This is example is for the second obverse showing George Washington in uniform facing left within a beaded circle surrounded by a border of thirteen semicircles and thirteen stars. The reverse shows a house flanked by trees in the center with a tall tree in front. The image has a border surrounding it and having the legend "HEADQUARTERS NEAR SUFFERNS, N.Y. 1780*No. 8*". The medal is uncirculated and shows a nice brown color of copper in the fields with hints of red. An interesting historical medal in great condition, which would make a nice addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1862.
