The note was issued on September 2, 1862, Richmond, Six Months after the ratification of a treaty of peace between the Confederate States & the United States. No. (written in red, faded); The Confederate States of America will pay TEN DOLLARS to bearer. The top vignette image features Ceres resting on a bale of cotton with ships in the background. Number 10 counters in three of the corners, and bottom right oval portrait of R.M.T. Hunter, Confederate Secretary of State and Senator on bottom right. There are signatures on bottom (cut out when cancelled); and the back is blank. The note has edge wear as seen in photos, measures approx. 7-1/4” x 3”.
