Description: Old Civil War Union Naval Officer's Sword 1852 model marked U.S. on the blade reverse amid scrolls and bearing a U.S. motto E Pluribus unum amidst scrolls on the obverse side of the blade. The spine of the blade bears the mark of the French Government owned Manuf. de Klingenthal works. The sword grip is of rayskin with wire wrap, the dolpin enhanced guard, and the pommel bearing the empirical eagle surrounded by 13 stars. The blade measures 31" with an overall sword length of 36 3/8". The sword blade is darkened by tarnish and aging, the proofmarks on the obverse ricasso are clear and the Klingenthal marking on the spine is aged but visible. There is no rusting.
