Published by The London Printing and Publishing Company. Although undated, this book ws published in the 1850s starting in 1851. There is a gift inscription on one of the front endpapers dated 1858. Volume One is a compilation of stories from the Old Testament. Volume Two (not with this book) covered the New Testament. This work is illustrated throughout, with an illustrated plate for each 2 page Bible story from scripture. The frontispiece is a fold-out Plate of Noah's Ark which is often missing or torn in half in these volumes. This was missing the outer part of its frontispiece also and I have attached a facsimile of it, archivally, to the plate. This is the only restoration done to the book. DESCRIPTION: 320 pages 7 x 5 1/4 inches 1850s 3/4 leather hardcover CONDITION: Very Good Condition. This book is bound with a black leather spine and corners, grayish cloth covered boards. The corners and edges are worn and scuffed. All hinges and joints are intact and strong. Endpapers are marbled and so are the page edges. The pages show very little toning and foxing for the age of the book. There is an old inked gift inscription (1858) on the second blank endpaper. The outer half of the frontispiece fold-out was missing and a facsimile of the missing part has been attached (archival) to it. All pages, illustrations, endpapers, etc. are present with the book.
