1848 Blood's Despatch 2¢ Rosine Association Females Immoral Lives meeting notice

Description: Superbly-struck 1848 "BLOOD'S DESPATCH 2cts." 24.5mm black double circle handstamp on a small folded printed notice for the "Rosine Association"--see wikipedia. "To: Hannah Baker You are invited to attend a Public Meeting of the "ROSINE ASSOCIATION" for the Reformation, Employment and Instruction of Females who have led immoral lives, to be held at the Lecture Room of the Museum Building (Entrance on George Street,) on seventh or Saturday, October 7th, at 3 o'clock P. M." A prior owner used a perpetual calendar to find Saturdays that were October 7th and found 1843, 1848 and 1854 and therefore concluded that this was an 1848 marking. A prior owner states "In late 1848 or early 1849, Blood's moved from 48 South Third Street (above the Girard Bank) to 28 South Sixth Street.
