Description: John Henry Newman was an English academic from Oxford who converted to Catholicism after several years as a theologian and poet. These are a series of sermons that he preached during the years 1842-1843 with the last sermon, “The Parting of Friends”, the last sermon he preached before his conversion. Arthur Cleveland Coxe was an Anglican bishop in western New York who was active in the mid to late 1800s as writer and religious leader. The book was donated to the Grosvenor Library in Buffalo, New York which was demolished in 1974. The book is in good condition with foxing within and some notations as well as an 18 page catalog in the rear. There is also a written note in the rear in the hand of Reverend Coxe dated 1845.
