Free Shipping on Purchases of 5 or More Maps and Prints Description: It is an original engraved antique map with a copyright date of March 15, 1842 printed on the map, although it is from an 1844 edition of the atlas Maps of the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, published London: Chapman and Hall, 1844. A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) name appears in the title block. The society was formed in 1826 and committed to the publication of the most upto date scientific findings for the dispersion of knowledge to the general public. It is hand numbered in India Ink in the corner. The maps are some of the most detailed English Maps of the period. The map is being sold as seen in the main pic as a single map that is not mounted, matted or framed. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 by 15 1/2 inches (30x39cm) on a 13 1/2 by 16 1/4" page (34x41cm) with a margin all around for framing. Condition: The map is in Good condition with overall tonal ageing, blank on the reverse. There is some minor darkening around the edges and a couple of random spots, otherwise the map is clean, see the pics for more on condition.
