James Sheridan Knowles, born in 1784, was a Irish dramatist and actor, as well as a prolific author. Giving up a career in medicine for the stage, it is believed his first appearance was in Bath, before he took on the role of Hamlet, for a production at the Crow Theatre in Dublin. CONDITION In a quarter-calf binding. Externally, rather worn, with cracked joints and bumping. Internally, firmly bound. Ink signature to title page. Pages are bright, though with some scattered instances of foxing throughout.
