Description: I have here for sale a book entitled SOUTH WALES ILLUSTRATED IN A SERIES OF VIEWS comprising the Picturesque Scenery, Towns, Castles, Seats of the Nobility & Gentry, Antiquities, etc. Engraved on steel from original drawings by Henry Gastineau, accompanied by historical and topographical descriptions. Published by Jones and Co of the Temple of the Muses. No date but online research of the same book suggests 1830. There is a title page vignette and a further 136 plates arranged 2-to-a-page of scenes from around South Wales. Half dark brown leather on brown marbled hardboards. Gilt bands, blind stamped tooling, black leather title blocks and gilt lettering to the spine. Scuffed to board edges and to joints but boards firm. Some sporadic foxing here and there. Binding firm. Unpaginated. Condition: very good. 28 x 22 cm. We have over 2000 items in our Ebay shop on a range of subjects, so please feel free to have a browse and see if anything else takes your fancy.
