Description: I have here for sale a book entitled A COURSE OF LECTURES ON DRAWING, PAINTING, AND ENGRAVING considered as branches of elegant education. Delivered n the saloon of The Royal Institution by W.M.CRAIG. Complete with the eight lectures. This first edition was published in 1821 by LONGMAN, HURST, REES, ORME and BROWN, London.With 6 Plates including the title vignette. Craig first lived at Manchester, but settled in London about 1791. He was painter in water-colours to the Queen, and miniature painter to the Duke and Duchess of York. He also excelled as a draughtsman on wood, and as a book illustrator. He is said to have been a nephew of Thomson, the poet. 'The Wounded Soldier' by him is in the Water-Colour Gallery at the South Kensington Museum. Bound in half leather over marbled boards. Some wear on the boards - please see photos. Board and spine edges are rubbed. Green endpapers. Foxing throughout the book. A few pencil marks in the page margins. This book is in good condition, it is tightly bound with no loose or missing pages x, 451pp 23cm x 16cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped.
