Description: This is a nice, original printing of Ballads of Archery Sonnets etc. Accompanied by Reverend James William Dodd. Original first Edition by R.H. Evans, London, 1818. Start of preface: "The following ballads were written between twenty and thirty years past, at various times, for the entertainment of a Society of Archers, called the Royal Kentish Bowmen, at their occasional meetings on Dartford Heath, Kent. His Royal Highness the present Prince Regent, patronized it; and being thus distinguished, it became privileged to assume the additional appellation of Royal." Measures 5" x 7.5" and contains 174 pages and 33 pages of music at the end. Cover and spine appears to be unique. Embossed leather covers have some rubbing wear at edges, front cover intact to back cover and spine but separated from block of pages inside- can easily be reglued. . Marbled page edges in good condition. Spine has gilt lettering and arrow design that has some edge rubbing and minimal fading to gilt lettering. Personal library plate inside front cover, inscription on front end page reads "To Walter Buchen To help remember the glorious hunts with bow and arrow which we had together Paul Keposty Christmas 1941" small pencil marks on first few page, small smudge on contents page.
