Description: Travels on an Inland Voyage through the States of New-York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, and through the Territories of Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi and New-Orleans; performed in the years 1807 and 1808; including a tour of nearly six thousand miles. With Maps and Plates. By Christian Schultz, Jun. Esq. In Two Volumes. Vol. I. New York: Isaac Riley 1810. xviii, 207pp. Volume 1 (of two) only. This volume mostly deals with western New York, Ontario in Canada, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Present here are the folding "Map of the United States including Louisiana" engraved by Scoles, frontispiece portrait of the author, and plate of boats on the Mohawk River - from a total of eight maps and plates called for between the two volumes. An inscription to the front endpaper records the volume's donation by Ethan Allen Greenwood (1779-1856), the portrait painter, to his alma mater, the New Salem Academy. Good. External wear, chipping, scuffing, traces of a small label to spine, a couple of small pits. Inside front cover has a couple of old price marks and a tiny bit of worming. First few leaves have a little hinge area dampstain; rear endpapers are dampstained, with traces of dampstain to some pages towards the end. Otherwise pages have yellowing, foxing, a few creases and edge-tears. The map is foxed with a large margin tear, some smaller edge tears, some staining, mostly in the margin.
