Published by W. Suttaby, Stationers Court. Printed by C. Corrall, 38 Charing Cross. This is with The Virtuoso – A fragment, never before published and the life of the author. This book is a WONDERFULLY BEAUTIFUL small book and an overall neat, clean, and tightly bound copy. The CALF LEATHER BOARDS and SPINE are in a really fantastic condition, with a gold gilt patterned outline and gilt decorations on the spine, together with gilt lettering over a black background. It is incredible that this is 216 years old. There is only a little wear to the edges of the boards and the top and bottom of the spine. Inside, there is light tanning to the pages, but they are thick and crisp and in an AMAZINGLY GOOD STATE. There is NO PEN OR PENCIL inside this book, there is only the occasional small mark to the pages, there are NO CREASES and the BINDING IS TIGHT, which is fantastic for a book of this age. There is a very small hole in page 235, as shown in the photograph, but this does affect the text. There is a ribbon inside the book. This would have originally been used as a bookmark. It is now detached from the book. All 239 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description. This is a really lovely and beautiful example of this book. A stunning addition for a collector or enthusiast. Mark Akenside was an 18th Century English poet and physician, born in 1721 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. This is a small book and measures approximately 12.7 cm by 7.3 cm and 1.6 cm wide.
