Description: *PLEASE SEE MY LISTINGS FOR MORE FASHION PLATES * An extremely rare and charming ORIGINAL hand-coloured fashion plate from a very early volume of 'Journal Des Dames Costume Parisien'. It dates from August 1799, the French Revolutionary and Directoire era. The year is given as An 8, plate number (150), described as 'Demi-Casque Voile de Mousseline'. The plates from the 100's series have some of the best draughtsmanship of the whole series, with some wonderful and quite modern-looking faces. The artist is unknown. Please see my listings for one more of these very scarce plates. I have been an enthusiastic collector of old and unusual books, prints and other ephemera for many years.
