Description: I have here for sale a book entitled GENERAL VIEW OF THE AGRICULTURE OF THE COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND with Observations on the Means of its Improvement by John Bailey and George Culley. Drawn up for the consideration of the Board of Agriculture and Internal Improvement. First edition published by C Macrae, London in 1794. This book is one of a series which were published, each volume on a different county, and I have several on Ebay. I have North Yorkshire, Cornwall, Northumberland, Cumberland, Kent and Somerset. The North Yorkshire one and the Somerset one have colour maps of the county, the others do not. This book has an introduction to the county, information on estate management, soil, cultivation of crops, manures, grasslands, implements of husbandry, observations on how to improve the agriculture in the county.Bound in half brown morocco on tan cloth hardboards. 2 raised bands and gilt lettering to the spine. Slight scuffing to head and tail and to corners, otherwise boards in very good condition. Small ink name inscribed to front endpaper, some very light foxing to a few pages, all others clean and firm. 51 pages, 24 x 20 cm.We have over 2000 items in our Ebay shop on a range of subjects, so please feel free to have a browse and see if anything else takes your fancy.
