Description: This beautiful copper plate engraving is from Edward Barnard's History of England published by Alexander Hogg, London, 1783. The Battle of St. Lucia or the Battle of the Cul de Sac was a naval battle fought off the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies during the American Revolutionary War on 15 December 1778, between the British Royal Navy and the French Navy. This is an original copper plate engraving which is printed on one side only and measures 35 cm x 23 cm or 13" x 9". This is an original antique which is over 240 years old and was produced soon after the actual event itself.
