Description: EARLY CONNECTICUTMANUSCRIPTDOCUMENTJedidiah HuntingtonFenn WadsworthJohn ChenwardJohn Lawrence1779 "Sir- Pay the Clothing Committee of Middletown One hundred eighty six Pounds & nine pence...and charge the State.Hartford January 30th 1779" Wonderful original Revolutionary War document partly due to John Lawrence's - the Treasurer of Connecticut at the time - beautiful handwriting, all done with quite a lovely flourish and legible as well. Signed by three men on the Pay-Table, the committee deciding payments to troops and more during the ongoing war. This one signed by Connecticut men of note: General Jedidiah Huntington, General James Wadsworth who also served in the Continental Congress, and Major Fenn Wadsworth. Old laid paper with a fairly scarce and intricate watermark seen when the paper is put up to light, not entirely present as the document is not on a full piece of paper but one can clearly see the fenced in lion, this is the Pro Patria - "For One's Country" - watermark which seems wonderfully suitable for a document concerned with keeping the American militia warm and dry during the Revolutionary War. ******We ship swiftly and with safety in mind.Thank you.
