A scarce piece concerning a legal battle over the estate of Joseph Paris Duverney, who died and allegedly forgave all debts and left part of his estate to French polymath, revolutionary and writer Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732-1799). This was countered by the Count de la Blache, Duverney’s sole heir, who alleged Beaumarchais had forged documents. The case would ultimately move through the court system and be decided against both parties at various points, with Beaumarchais famously being exposed for his attempted bribery of a judge named Goezman to rule in his favor. A great piece for restoration and binding.COLPAP-1135
