S. Dallas, Edward Lovibond, and Charles Hanbury Williams. It was devoted to the satirising the follies and vices of the fashionable society of the eighteenth century, much in the style of the 'Rambler'.The publication typically saw a circulation that averaged from two to three thousand copies.Edited by Edward Moore, under the pseudonym 'Adam Fitz-Adam'. He became the editor through the influence of Lord Lyttelton. Moore was a dramatist who wrote 'The Foundling', 'Gil Blas', 'Fables From the Female Sex', and more.Volume IV includes a list of all of the authors of each piece. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn and rubbed. A small amount of loss to the head of the spines. Minor bumping to the extremities. Tail of the spines of Volumes I, II, and III are discoloured. Crack to the head and tail of the front joint Volume I, II, and III, heavier to Volume IV, and smaller cracks to the rear joints. Loss to the tail of the front joints, heavier to Volume III, and to the rear joints of Volumes II, III, and IV. Front hinge starting to each volume, rear hinge of Volume IV is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Tidemark to the first and last few pages of Volume I, II, and III. Worming to the text of Volume IV, from page 215 to the end of text, only very marginally affecting the text to the final leaves.
