Description: Custom built model of a WW2 Brewster Buffalo. A pre-ww2 design that became the U.S. Navy's first monoplane carrier fighter. The model depicts a colorful prewar carrier based example. Originally a fairly good performing aircraft, the Navy kept upgrading the specifications to include heavier armament, self sealing fuel tanks, armor plating, life raft etc. and so as deliverd, with thousands of pounds of extra equipment, the little Buffalo had turned into a bit of a pig. They flew in the U.S. Navy, British Royal Airforce, and the airforces of the Netherlands, Belgium, and notably Finland. In the Pacific, the Buffalos were badly outclassed by Japanese designs and faired poorly in defense of Singapore, Java, and other colonial nations. The one bright spot in the Buffalo's history was its service in Finland. The Finns flew the lighter weight version and did some engine upgrades and other tweaking. Their Buffalos in the hands of well trained, dedicated pilots, decimated their Russian opposition in the air. Their 30+ : 1 kill ratio makes the Brewster actually one of the all time most effective combat aircraft types. This is a scale model collectors item to be handled and unpacked with care, not a childs toy to be played with! Has small and sharp parts that could break off if mishandled. Buyer should expect the possibility of small parts coming detached in shipment but model is well built and will be carefully packed (check my feedback) and damage is quite unlikely.
