Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Modelcollect is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a fabulous reputation for innovation and quality. They initially produced some small scale finished models and later branched out into kits and larger scales. Some of their most popular (and my favorite) kits are their 1/72 B-52 and B-2 strategic bombers. They have armed them with a full complement of Air Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCMs) or Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSMs). They even created a set of Medium Range Air-to-Surface Missiles (MRASMs) that were developed, but never deployed. Modelcollect has now decided to make these detailed missile sets available as separate releases to be used for dioramas or to arm other bomber kits that were not so well-endowed. In this set of 20 ALCMs, you can assemble up to 16 of them with wings stowed (transport mode) and up to 5 of them with wings deployed (flight mode). I only found a handful of listings for this newly-released set on eBay (almost all from Europe), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this set very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this state-of-the-art set: The Modelcollect website has a page for this kit that shows the impressive box art and the complete full-color 2-page Instruction Set and Painting Guide. Unfortunately, there is not much information about the kit or subject. From other sources, I have found the following information about their set: The AGM-86 ALCM is an American air launched cruise missile (ALCM). The missile was developed to increase the effectiveness and survivability of the B-52H Stratofortress strategic bomber. · 1/72 scale model kit of the AGM-86 ALCM· Total 20 missiles included · Up to five of the missiles can be built in the wing extended (flight) position. The remaining missiles (up to sixteen) can be built with wings in the folded position. Scalemates.com shows that this is a new tooling from 2021. They show the box art and provide a link to the review below, but don’t give us much specific information about this set. Jürgen Willisch did a very short First Look Review on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site. He provides about a half-dozen high-resolution photos of the sprues, PE fret, parts close-ups and the instruction sheet. He was not sure why this subject was chosen, but was very happy with the quality, saying: “The tails and wings are very thin and sharp-edged. Nothing to complain about”. This set is in a beautiful, sturdy box about 10.5” x 6.5” x 2”, with a great image of a missile in flight (with all kinds of markings that don’t come in the kit). As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains a set of twenty injection molded plastic ALCM kits, with a total of 168 grey plastic parts (but no decals), along with a small instruction sheet.
