In 1709 Boston was nothing but a small town. This document granted total freedom to build a new wharf in Dorchester (South Boston) on Wales Creek and freedom from town rules for 2 years. Boston was in need of commerce and commerce meant new dock space. A very important document. I have shwon a web picture of the James Blake House as it looks today.
