He was from a wealthy Roman family of the equestrian class, and was a close friend of Cicero from childhood. They often wrote their correspondence in a subtle code in order to disguise their political observations.Nepos is known for his critical biographies, including his parallel lives 'De Viris Illustribus'.Translated into English by Sir Matthew Hale.Ink mark to the recto to the front endpaper.
