The first edition of this work. In Latin. This work is an octavo, with the signatures running as a-b6, A-T8, V6, X-Z8, Aa-Cc8. Collated, complete. Collated from WorldCat. Pagination is only to the recto of leaves. Some errors in pagination, with page 22 is numbered a duplicate 18 instead of 22, no page 63, and two pages 65. Text is continuous, no loss of leaves. This work is a collection of suggestions and consul on many aspects of life in terms of the Catholic religion and worship, containing a total of one-hundred and fifty-four articles of suggestions. By Francesco Zabarella. This is one of his chief canonical writings, with his others being 'Lectura Super Clementinis', and 'Commentarius in Libros Decretalium'. Zabarella was an Italian cardinal and canonist, and was appointed the bishop of Florence in 1410, before becoming the Cardinal Deacon in 1411. His most important literary work was an ecclesiastic-political treatise. Two bookplates to the front pastedown, 'Ex Bibliotheca Seminarii S. Ioannis', and 'Ex libris D. A very scarce Latin work offering advice to the reader relating to how to live their life in a righteous manner. CONDITION In a full vellum binding. Externally, generally smart. Front board may detach with further handling. Loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the raised bands. Prior owner's ink inscription to the spine. A little discolouration to the boards and spine, as is usual with vellum. Marking to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the extremities. Two bookplates to the front pastedown. Stamp to the recto to the front endpaper. Small amount of loss to the front endpaper. Small amount of worming to the rear pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with age-toning to just a few leaves, and generally clean with the odd mark and the odd small tidemark. Small closed tear to the tail of leaf F1. Chip to the bottom and fore edge of leaf P4, not affecting text.
