Description: An original Civil War letter to Sergeant Lemuel H Liscom, Co A, 14th New Hampshire from his Father at Hinsdale, NH, Jan 22, 1865 asks if he was in the Battle of Fort Fisher- he says the taking of Wilmington "is a big thing"- the Rebel Cities are falling one after another, younger Bother Lucius may be drafted while some men are finding substitutes. H he is sending Lemuel a pair of high boots & a watch by Sergeant GW Lewis. There is sad news- Dan, Caleb & Arnold Crowningshield have all died at Salisbury Prison, North Carolina.
