United States Army Chief Warrant Officer Dominick Joseph Durso (service Nọ 20217779) was born on November 21st 1910, in New York, New York, to Maria Cioffi, and Raffale D'Urso. Dominick enlisted for 3 years as a Private in the New York National Guard, Company E. 102nd Engineers on September 30th 1929. He was then honorable discharged September 29th 1932. Pvt. Durso reenlisted for 3 years the next day, back with Co. E. Where he continued to serve until he was honorable discharged again on September 29th 1935. Pvt. Durso reenlisted for 3 years in the N.Y.N.G. Company F. 102nd Engineers, on October 14th 1935, he completed his enlisted and was honorable discharged on October 13th 1938. The next day Pvt. Durso reenlisted in the N.Y.N.G. Co. F. 102nd Engineers for 3 years. On October 15th 1940 Pvt. Durso was transferred to the U.S. Army by GO 36 AGO, NY. He was the relieved and transferred by Special Order 266 back to the N.Y.N.G. on November 19th 1941, just 18 days before the attack at Pearl Harbor. Dominick was working as a ticket agent in the New York subway system when the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, also known as the Burke-Wadsworth Act, extended Pvt. Durso’s enlistment in the U.S. Army for 18 months. He was honorably discharged on January 18th 1942 and reenlisted the next day. During World War II Pvt. Durso was injured in the line of duty, and transferred to a hospital in Hawaii in June of 1942. He recuperated and was back serving in the engineers branch for the duration of the War. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on July 18th 1945. Durso reenlisted in the N.Y.N.G. on August 11th 1947. He was promoted to Warrant Officer Junior Grade and served until he was honorably discharged on August 10th 1950. He reenlisted and was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and served until July 17th 1959 when he was honorably discharged for the last time in his 30 year career. Dominick worked as a railroad clerk for the New York City Board of Transportation. His last known address was in Yonkers New York.
