Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! I have said that in my opinion, the single most impressive upgrade for any ship kit is a classic wooden deck and nowhere is the deck more prominent than on a carrier. This is a laser cut precision wood deck to go with Trumpeter’s excellent 1/350 kit of the WWII Aircraft Carrier USS Yorktown CV-10 as she appeared in 1944 (TRP #05603). The Yorktown had a blue wooden flight deck and Pontos lets you dress it up in style with painting masks, photo etched parts and dry-transfers. This upgrade set has four components: the multi-part (3 individual pieces) self-adhesive blue-tone wood deck, photo etched metal flight deck parts, two paint masking sheets and a dry-transfer sheet for hull draft markings and ship names. I found three listings for this set on eBay (all from Europe), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this set to you very quickly. Here is some of what I found out about this rare and wonderfully detailed product: The Pontos site shows the instruction set, PE fret, dry-transfer sheet and painting masks. The masks and dry-transfers let you model the USS Yorktown CV-10, USS Intrepid CV-11, USS Franklin CV-13, USS Lexington CV-16, USS Bunker Hill CV-17 or USS Wasp CV-18 using the basic USS Yorktown or USS Franklin kits. The site provides the following list of features: · Composed of Wooden Deck, PE, Masking Sheet and Dry Transfer set for one ship kit· Recommended kits: 1/350 Trumpeter CV-10 Yorktown or CV-13 Franklin· Stained with Blue Deck (20-B) color tone for the protection and expression of real deck· PE for the flight deck· Dry Transfer printed by Hobbydecal Scalemates.com has a listing that shows this set was designed for the Trumpeter #05603 USS Yorktown CV-10 1944 and the Trumpeter #05604 USS Franklin CV-13 1944 kits (which assumes they all have identical deck tooling). There are also links to aftermarket parts and resources for all Essex-class carriers. I couldn’t find any reviews of this particular deck, but Alex posted a First Look review of the wood deck for the 1/350 USS New Jersey (Pontos #35006WD1) on the German-language modellboard.net forum site. He gives us photos of the wood sheets, the PE fret, the chain and transfer sheet, along with instructions and packaging. He used the set when he built his New Jersey and concluded his review with: “For me, this deck is the first made of wood. It looks like wood, which is mainly due to the colors and structures. I think it will beautify the model tremendously.” Sean Hert did an outstanding review of the wood deck for the 1/350 DKM Scharnhorst (Pontos #35012WD1) on the modelwarships.com site. I assume his comments would apply to the entire family of Pontos WD1 decks. He described the deck as laminated wood about 0.013” thick and attached to a stiff plastic backing. It was easy to free the parts with a light tracing with a hobby knife. His Conclusion was: “Replacement decks like these are growing in popularity in the model ship building hobby, and this should appeal to anyone who wants to upgrade the appearance of their Scharnhorst with real wooden decks!” If you want to see a deck going onto a model, Sovereign Hobbies did a 10-minute YouTube video that is loaded with useful tips and practical advice as he applies Pontos #35021WD1 to his 1/350 HMS Repulse model from Trumpeter. The set is in clear plastic sleeve about 14.5” x 5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one laser cut self-adhesive wooden deck (in 3 pieces), a photo etched metal fret, two painting masks and a dry-transfer sheet for hull draft markings and ship names. The deck requires no cement or paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time, this finely detailed wood deck is being offered with $5 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
