Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. I think every tank collection should include at least one Tiger and this kit covers the Late Production version. When I think of Airfix, I think of aircraft models and 1/76 scale armor. They are trying to change that by adding a line of 1/35 scale armor to their offerings. To start, they are not making them in-house, but reboxing Academy’s kits, which are pretty good. This one comes with flexible one-piece tracks, photo etched detail parts and even a metal Zimmerit tool. There are about a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from Europe), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this fabulous kit: The Airfix sites (uk.airfix.com and www.hornbyhobbies.com) no longer have a page for this kit. I assume that means it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I found the following information: During the whole of its service history, the Tiger I was constantly improved upon and adapted to the ever-improving Allied tanks and firepower it found itself up against. This version from the summer of 1944 comes with an asymmetric turret, 88mm cannon, mantlet, engine deck and accessory pack. A Zimmerit tool is also provided. · One-piece flexible vinyl tracks· Zimmerit coating applicator included· High accuracy of the details· Highly detailed photo-etched parts· Two marking options available Scalemates.com has a listing that shows this is a 2019 release based on the classic Academy tooling from 1990 that has been the basis for an astonishing 20 releases across the Academy, Airfix and Modelist brands. The page provides a link to download the complete 12-page full-color Instruction Set and Painting Guide along with plenty of links to aftermarket parts and resources to tune up your build. RC UK Scale Models produced a thorough 28-minute In-Box Review on YouTube that starts with the actual box before going into the instructions and decals. Then he pulls out each of the plastic sprues to show off the detail of the parts. It ends with a three-minute montage of photos of the parts for a better look. I couldn’t find more reviews of the Airfix version of this kit, but there are several nice reviews of the parent kit from Academy (#13314): Stephen Sutton did an enthusiastic Build Review on the cybermodeler.com site. He describes the construction sequence and provides useful tips for a smoother build. He backs this all up with over 40 high-resolution photos of the work in progress and the marvelously finished model. His Final Thoughts include: “Over this is an excellent kit with many options for the various late model Tiger I tanks… I highly recommend this kit as it affords great value and has lots of options.” David Wrinkle posted a detailed Build Review on the reviews.ipmsusa.org site. He offers 8 photos to show a sampling of the parts, instructions and decals (different from the kit listed), as well as the finished Tiger. His conclusion starts with: “This kit builds into a good representation of the Tiger I late tank.” This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 16” x 10” x 3.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit of the lethal Tiger I tank with detailed beige plastic parts, a fret of photo etched metal parts (plus PE Zimmerit applicator), poly caps, flexible tracks, a standing figure, a set of decals and more. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this massive item is offered with $12 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
