An original Civil War Letter from Private Ingerson at Martinsburg, Virginia, Dec 6, 1863, writing that he is well , has received her letter he is going to the prayer meeting with the boys- they have a full house every night. He finishes the letter the next morning- writes that that it is now Monday, Dec 7, he attended the meeting last night and had a good time, He has received a letter from John (BrotherJohn Ingerson, 49th Ohio) who writes that he and the rest of the boys are well. Pvt Ingerson writes that he will try to get a furlough to visit John, also notes that he has received John's likeness, and will send him one. The letter finishes with his request to write again soon, from Ambrose Ingerson to TCA Ingerson. Ambrose Ingerson was just a boy, but he served 2 years w the 123rd Ohio , was captured and paroled at Winchester in 1863, then exchanged in 1864 and mortally wounded at the Battle of Winchester, June 15, 1864, losing his leg and dying at Winchester.
