Raising Polyphemus moths are fun for beginners. includes: 12 eggs from South Alabama female polys paired with wild fly-in males. (packaged securely). We raise female moths and place them outside to call for a wild male. These eggs come from the witnessed pairing of adult Polyphemus moths. We cannot take responsibility for what happens once they are in your care, but do provide customer support as needed.Feel free to ask questions! Caterpillars were raised on Water Oak leaves. Polyphemus caterpillars have many host plants to include but not limited to oaks, birch, willows, and maple. Be sure to research what trees you have available and what polys in your area tend to use for host. You must have host plants that are readily available. (Be sure leaves are pesticide free.) Do not put leaves in with unhatched eggs. Once eggs hatch move the caterpillars to leaves in a separate container with lid. You do not want them to escape--they are tiny. Give them fresh, clean leaves daily. We raise our early instar caterpillars in unventilated containers as caterpillars do need humidity. Around 3rd instar we sleeve our caterpillars outside on host plants. Enjoy your adventure. Pictures: Male Poly with ruler showing approximately 7wingspan. Female Poly in cage we raised.
