Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Lindberg Models was one of the classic model companies in the US before the market shrank and was taken over by excellent and innovative overseas players. These are two of the most iconic warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Zuikaku famously participated in the Pearl Harbor attack and outlasted the other five. The Yamato was the largest battleship of WWII (OK, here sister ship Musashi was just slightly bigger), yet failed to make a critical impact before being overwhelmed and destroyed in April 1945. Both kits started as Pyro kits in the early 1960s and passed through the hands of Life-Like Hobby Kits before ending up with Lindberg in 2015. Lindberg has now packaged them together as part of their Table Top Navy series that also includes sets of US and British ships. There are over a dozen of these kits listed on eBay (in various conditions), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this 2-pack in stock and can reliably ship it very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web: The Round 2 company has picked up the Lindberg line, along with several notable others (like MPC, AMT and Polar Lights). The Round 2 site goes through cycles where they show lots of kits and then very few kits. When I wrote this, they did not have a page for this product. From other sources, I found the following information about these veteran kits: Pair of IJN’s most famous warships Lindberg’s Table Top Navy kits offer a great way to build a wide range of WWII battleships from around the world. Each kit features two historic ships. These kits pack loads of detail into models that range from 6 1/2” to over 8” long. In this offering, The IJN Zuikaku is accompanied by the IJN Yamato. These models offer full hull or waterline options and are great for various tabletop gaming uses. Features:· 1:1200 Scale, Skill Level 2· Includes two WWII ship kits· Models range from 6 1/2” to over 8” long· Loads of detail in small kits· Great for tabletop gaming· Build as Full Hull or Waterline models· Hull camouflage & flight deck decals· Paint & glue required Scalemates.com has a listing that shows this is a 2015 release that is a reboxing of the 1961 Pyro Shokaku and Yamato models. They provide some links to reviews and aftermarket parts to support your decision on this Value Pack. Doug did a “SnapShot” Review on the rightonreplicas.com site. He gives a brief history of each ship before going into the details of the models. He walks you through the assembly and provides useful tips and guidance. Notable comments include: “The detail is very good and the decals are excellent. Assembly goes well because all the parts fit together very nicely.” and “I think these rate a 9 on scale of 1 to 10 for a ship builder.” Len Pilhofer published a thorough Build Review on the reviews.ipmsusa.org site. He describes his construction and provides about a dozen photos covering the parts, instructions and his assembly, along with his impressive results. He seemed to have a great time building these and made the following comments about his experience: “The fact that the kits were a quick build is a positive and helped contribute to my enjoyment of this weekend project. As long as you are not looking for something too complicated or detailed, these are the kits for you...especially if you are new to the hobby or if someone under your guidance is.” This kit is in a nostalgic, well-decorated box about 12” x 7.5” x 2”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains two complete injection molded plastic model kits with 42 grey (Yamato) and 35 light green (Zuikaku) plastic parts, including a choice sea surface diorama base or display stands, along with a fine decal sheet to build Full Hull or Waterline versions of these two iconic ships. They require cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this classic item is offered with $6 First Class Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
