The division disembarked at Cherbourg, Sept 7, 1944 entering the European Theater of Operations. The division participated in the Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. The division went on the offensive on October 26th seizing Zundert, Netherlands and moving toward the Vaart Canal. Launching from Aachen the division took, Stolberg, Duren, Koln. It helped encircle German Forces in the Ruhr Pocket then moved to Paderborn. On April 1, 1945. Moving east, with heavy fighting in the HarzMountains, the division met up with Red Army forces at Pretzsh.
