Description: Japanese Spreading Yew Tree Seeds (Taxus cuspidata)"10 PACK"They no doubt observed the tree's qualities of longevity and regeneration. Drooping branches of old yew trees can root and form new trunks where they touch the ground. Thus the yew came to symbolize death and resurrection in Celtic culture. Japanese yew looks its best when planted in groups or masses. They make lovely hedges and foundation plantings. These evergreens have dense foliage that forms a solid screen. When sheared, they have a formal appearance, or you can let them grow into their natural shape for an informal look of a Bonsai. The Japanese Yew is a Broad Needled Evergreen or Multi~Stemmed Shrub that is native to Korea, China, Russia, and Japan. The Yew was revered by ancient people, who viewed it's ability to stay green throughout the year as magical. Yew wood is also infamous for it's durability being called "iron wood", because fence posts have outlasted metal ones. The bark is scaly and reddish brown in color, and the female plants produce abundant berry like fruit which birds love. Keep in mind that the berries are Very Deadly for Humans, Dogs, and other animals except for deer. It can also be used for Landscaping purposes, being rugged, very Dense, and Shade Tolerant, the Yew make's an Excellent choice for a Foundation shrub, or Year Round Thick Hedges as pictured above. For the best result with cold stratification, place in a sealed bag of moist peat moss, and place in the fridge at around 40-45 degrees F for around 60 days. Be sure to place 3-4 small holes in the bag. Any planting out is best done in late Spring or early Summer, after the last expected frosts. Keep damp soil, not soaking wet. Will ship as soon as payment is received.
