Scientifically classified as Guaiacum, lignum vitae extract is useful for skin disorders, respiratory complaints and syphilis. The resin from the tree is also good to treat dry mouth, thirst and to excite warmth in the stomach. This time-consuming, but not too difficult to do with a pocketknife. Scrape off just the casing around the rounder end.2) Soak the seeds in water for 36 hours. Change water daily.3) Fill a 4 to 6 Inch pot with a soilless seed starting mix. Use a pot that has at least one drainage hole in the bottom. Prepare 1 Pot for each seed.4) Plant 1/4" Inch deep, smoothing the soil back over them. Water until it starts to seep out of the drainage hole. 5) Use a heated propagator to maintain a temperature of 80-85 degrees F. Maintaining warmth during germination is Very Important.6) Place the pots in a bright sunny area.
