These pearls are over 400 years old and were found in a lead box tightly packed with a thick mud that preserved them when they otherwise would have completely deteriorated after being submerged in warm salt water for 400 years. There is no other collection of shipwreck pearls of this antiquity in the entire world, and gives them a historical and intrinsic value that is unmatched.
